The Wise County Project was created by Virginia Tech student and rising youth environmental activist Bryce Carter in the fall of 2006 as part of an undergraduate independent study. After a newly formed environmental statewide network decided to work to stop a proposed coal-fired power plant in Wise County, Virginia, Bryce set about to investigate what impact their involvement would have on the local community. He soon found himself on a journey spanning across coal-country and beyond and saw his own engagement in the environmental movement grow. This four-part 40-minute documentary provides an excellent introduction into of the dynamic issue of coal and growing modern environmental movement.
